What sets you apart from other photographers?

The pictures of your special day should not only reflect the distinctive nature and spirit of your relationship with your loved one, but also how that bond is cherished and nurtured by the family and friends you have gathered to witness the start of this new chapter of your lives together.  I have an attentive, keen eye for those subtle moments that are easily overlooked in the rush and excitement of the day.

My approach is especially well adapted for non-traditional couples and events, celebrating both the special character of your relationship and the the unique facets of your personalities that set you apart from others, while also honoring the profound dignity of the promises you have chosen to make to each other.

How do we book you for our wedding or event?

First, we will arrange an in-person meeting to discuss your event and scheduling (if you are outside of the Kansas City metro area, we can conduct the meeting via Skype, FaceTime, or telephone).  After that meeting, you will receive a contract to sign and return with a non-refundable advance booking fee (50% of the base price of the package you purchased).  Once I receive the signed contract and booking fee, I will reserve your date exclusively for you.  The balance of your package price (and options purchased) must be paid at least seven (7) days prior to the day of your event.

At what point in the planning process should we choose and hire a photographer?

Choosing your photographer should be one of the first things you do in planning your event.  Planning the schedule for a wedding or other special event can be complicated, to ensure there is adequate time for everything.  The earlier you hire your photographer, the sooner he or she will be available to consult with you and offer you suggestions and options that may help your day run more smoothly and avoid circumstances which could interfere with the quality of your photography coverage.  If you wait until later in the process to hire a photographer, you also run the risk that someone else might book that photographer for your date, first.

Will you travel to events outside of the Kansas City area?

I am quite happy to travel to events outside of the greater Kansas City area.  I will travel up to 60 miles from downtown Kansas City, Missouri, without additional charge.  If your event is more distant, we can discuss anticipated travel and select the most economical options to help keep travel-related costs as low as possible.

When does my purchased photography coverage begin?

Photography coverage begins once I arrive for the event, and runs continuously until the time period is concluded.  It includes travel time that might be required to travel between venues where photography will take place for your event.  It is important that you book sufficient coverage time for your event, as additional coverage may not be available for purchase on the day of the event.  If additional coverage time is made available, it is typically charged at 150% of the base hourly rate for your selected package (billed to the nearest quarter-hour).

When will I see my photos?

Absent unusual circumstances, you will receive your images within 4-6 weeks after your event, and will receive a link to your private online gallery.

Will I receive every photo you take?

While I strive for a perfect capture with every photograph taken during an event, people are unpredictable.  They blink, change expression, or yawn when you least expect it.  Sometimes, I may take multiple photos of a particular point in time, so that I can select from multiple compositions of the image.  After your event, I will review the images taken and cull out any photos that are unflattering or which are duplicative of other photos.  After selecting the best images from the event, I will then edit, process and perform light retouching on those images. The end result will provide you with a curated set of images that show the best moments from your special day.

Who owns the copyright to the photos?

I retain the copyright to all photos I take.  I will provide you with a license to use the photos you receive for personal purposes.  However, the photos you receive cannot be used for commercial purposes or in publications without my express written permission.
